Privacy: what happens to your request
This is a summary in English. The legally binding text is the full version in French.
Who is responsible
Swiss Pro Moving, a moving company based in Geneva. Postal address: Rue des Charmilles 16, 1203 Geneva, Switzerland. For any question about your data, email us at contact@swisspromoving.com. The company that issues our quotes and invoices, with its registration number, is named in our legal notice (in French).
What we collect
When you send the quick request form on one of our English pages, we receive:
- the town, city or postcode you're moving from, and your preferred date;
- your name, your email address and, if you give it, your phone number;
- how you'd prefer us to contact you, and how you heard about us;
- the language and country of the page you sent the request from (for example, English and Switzerland).
If you use our quote calculator, we also receive what you enter there: both addresses, the floors and whether there's a lift, the volume and the list of items.
Why we use it
Only to answer your request and prepare your quote and, if you book your move with us, to organise it and invoice it. We don't sell your data, and we don't pass it on to anyone else for their own use.
Where it is stored
Your request is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the website and the database on our behalf. The database is in the European Union, which Switzerland recognises as offering an adequate level of data protection. Cloudflare, Inc. is a US company acting as our processor, under contract.
If you write to us on WhatsApp, your messages, photos and phone number go through WhatsApp, a service of Meta. Meta is based outside Switzerland and may process this data in the United States, under its own terms. We use what you send us there only to prepare your quote, and keep it as long as your request. If you'd rather not use WhatsApp, email us or use the form.
Address services
The quick request form doesn't use any address service. In the quote calculator, while you type an address, what you've typed and your IP address are sent to a service that suggests existing addresses:
- for an address in Switzerland, to the address search of the Federal Office of Topography, swisstopo (api3.geo.admin.ch);
- for an address outside Switzerland, to the Photon service run by komoot GmbH (photon.komoot.io).
The spm_accueil cookie
If you choose a version of the site (for example the Irish one or the Swiss one), we remember that choice in a cookie called spm_accueil for 180 days, so we don't ask you again. It only holds the code of the version you chose: no identifier and no personal data.
How long we keep it
- A request that doesn't lead to a move is deleted after 12 months.
- If we invoice a move, the invoice and its supporting documents are kept for 10 years, as the law requires for accounting records.
- After a deletion, the database backups clear themselves within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to contact@swisspromoving.com. We reply within 30 days. If you think your data isn't being handled properly, you can contact Switzerland's Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
